Rivers of Hex is a modular, hex based river and lake system developed and modelled by Erik Gustafson. With a total of 9 different STL variants this is your one stop shop for all your hexed water needs. The river banks are designed with a slight elevation to give the impression the water has depth below the limits of the physical playing surface. Every hex of these files is fully gameplay ready, you will have no problems balancing your miniatures anywhere you wish. This STL bundle is Hextech compatible.
The pictured samples were done at .12mm layers with 2 light coats of automotive filler primer for a better finish on the waves.

I love this river! The files printed easily and have enough variety to make all kinds of patterns. The files have different bends and straight sections so you can have a unique set... view moreup every time. It was easy to paint: I sprayed automotive filler primer on the entire model and a second coat on the water sections. Then I sprayed it with regular grey primer. The water was a darker blue, a blue wash, then dry brushed a light blue. The rocks...I think I used a brown wash on the primer then dry brushed some lighter grays. Sprayed everything with a matte spray and used gloss nail polish on the water. view less
These are really well designed and detailed and very easy to print. The river beds are nicely textured and have markers in the larger sections to help identify the hexes. I recom... view moremend highlighting those, particularly on larger pieces like the lake. All in all a great design and a nice add for a fully realized terrain board. view less
